The suburbs are conveniently located - close to the eateries on Gordons Bay Beach Road, the town’s shopping centres, the main beach as well as Bikini Beach and the old harbour where sailing and angling from the harbour wall are the main attractions.

The nearest school to Mountainside suburb is Gordons Bay Primary School at 1.2 km away and the Strand High school (7.1 km). Mondeor Eco School is 8.2 km away and Reddam House Somerset (Private School) 10 km.

There are two shopping centres within 2 km from Mountainside Estate both have either a Spar of Woolworth as well as a new centre being built that will house a Checkers.

Gordons Bay's amenities are in close proximity – with 3 petrol filling stations located within 5 km (BP Gordons Bay is 1.3 km away, BP Aqua Mall 3 km and Shell N2 Broadlands is 5 km away).

The period or tenure of ownership, which is a measure of ownership stability, shows that about 55% of the existing owners have been owning for 11 or more years, about 9% between 8 to 10 years, about 11% between 5 to 7 years and 25% less than 5 years.

The median price of houses achieved during 2017 in Mountainside and Mountainside Estate has been R3 200 000 – up from R1 700 000 in 2011. This shows a strong capital growth rate of 88% during the last 6.5 years – which equates to about 13,5% per year.

The average number of annual property transfers in both adjacent suburbs of Mountainside and Mountainside Estate combined since 2010 has been: erfs - 5 p.a. / houses – 34 p.a.
