Durbanville at a glance

Durbanville was one of the first towns which exploded with new developments.  It accommodated the huge demand for affordable, but stylish housing from the first time buyer right through to the discerning businessman.  South East Durbanville was the perfect location, with large sections of vacant land which was not yet cultivated.  Although the residential market expanded tremendously, the area never lost its rustic feel.  This factor alone accounted for a major part of the success of the new developments.

Durbanville is a very prestigious area and people take pride in the address.  It is, and always has been the location of choice for the ‘upper-class'.

Types of Durbanville Property available

Durbanville offers many new developments - sectional title as well as own title.  The ‘lock-up-and-go' feature was a great plus point as people tend to live on the run in this day and age.  The security that the developments offered was just as important.  The developers saw a gap in the market and focused on it.  They made sure to offer exactly what the public required - and the market boomed!

If you are lucky, you will still find one of the original farm houses on the outskirts of town.  Alternatively, you can find yourself in love with one of the older houses closer to the heart of Durbanville.  These properties are relatively large and spacious, and therefore higher up on the price range (and worth every penny).

Durbanville has limited low cost housing opportunities.  Most candidates for low cost housing does not have own transport and it is too far from the city to commute.

General interest information

Equestrian activities are very popular in Durbanville.  The race course also serves as a platform for show jumping as well as the sport of kings, polo.  This too accentuates the feel of ‘farm living'.

The town offers everything you might need, but on a smaller scale.  Though this has not affected the quality of the services.  The Durbanville Medi-Clinic is one of the best hospitals in the country and the variety of schools are second to none.  Shopping centres fulfil your every need and you can be assured of a wide choice of gourmet restaurants.

A mere 10 minutes from Bellville, 20 minutes from Cape Town International Airport and 30 minutes from Cape Town CBD, its ideally situated to qualify as ‘out of town‘.
