I was born and bred in Gauteng before moving to the Somerset West basin during 1997. I am married to Elma and we have two sons and a daughter. We are keen travelers and with two of our children living overseas, we try to break away whenever possible.

Christan was born in King William’s Town and grew up at De Rust, a small Karoo village close to Oudtshoorm. After matriculating from the De Rust High School in 1973, he spent two years doing military service, where his involvement in the Angola war permanently moulded his value system and his appreciation for the gift of life.
Christan has always been a keen sportsman, playing league tennis and completed4 Comrades marathons - the latter taught him never to give up. Currently he visits the gym regularly and takes long strolls on the beach to refresh and open up his mind.
Christan is married to Ilse Nel, a German teacher trained at the Potchefstroom University. Of their 3 children, one is a Psychometrist, another one a Chartered Accountant in training and the youngest is studying Electrical Engineering.

I became interested in the property market many years ago when I sold my own house in Somerset West within two days. After completing a teaching diploma at the University of Stellenbosch I settled in Somerset West. After my marriage to Piet Stassen (a scientist and technical advisor in the fruit industry) I spent six years managing the Akkerjakker Creche in Stellenbosch, teaching in primary schools for twelve years and being a mother to our five children.
