Greenways Golf Estate is a very sought after secure suburb along some 1.5 km of unspoiled beachfront. It has been developed on the former site of the Strand Golf Club. It contains some 649 homes and apartments sites with sea or mountain views. Safety is a top priority and an excellent 24 hour security system is in place, including perimeter CCTV, gated access control, guard patrols and an operational room.

The Soet River runs through Greenways to the sea whilst several dams encourage water birds to make this their home. Greenways offers a 3,7 km circular tarred pathway along the beachfront as well as through the common areas with several benches along it. Greenways is predominantly an own title development built alongside a 9 hole mashie golf course. 4 Sectional title complexes (Emerald Bay, Laguna Beach, Golf Beach & Bermuda Beach) are located at the two entrances.

The majority of own title properties are built without architectural or design constraints. Village Green is the only themed (Victorian) own title development inside Greenways - offering great value. Here you can still buy a 3-bedroom house for as low as R1,8 million. Building styles and exterior colours are all prescribed by the development.

The prices of the own title houses in the rest of Greenways ranges between R2,5 million and R14 million. Homes built in this section are built according to owners requirements but subject to Greenways building guidelines. The sectional title complexes are split between a luxury apartment block, Emerald Bay, and the other 3 complexes - which are all 2 and 3 storey apartment blocks. Golf Beach overlooks the golf course - with some of the apartments walking onto the beach area with full sea views. Bermuda Beach and Laguna Beach is closer to the Gordons Bay Road side of Greenways. The Bermuda Beach blocks are built around a swimming pool and entertainment area, whilst Laguna Beach also have a small dam which attracts a variety of water birds.

Prices of the other 3 complexes vary according to proximity to the beach or the Gordons Bay Road. Lowest priced 1-bedroom apartments starts at +- R550 000, 2-bedrooms at +- R740 000 and 3-bedrooms at +- R875 000 - up to +-R1,45 million next to the beach.

Educational facilities 

Hendrik Louw is a dual medium primary school in Strand Central. Lochnerhof (Afrikaans primary school) is about 3 kms from Strand Central on Sarel Cilliers Street (Strand north). Both Boland College (5kms) and Strand High (4kms) is in Goedehoop, whilst Hottentots-Holland High School is in the Van der Stel suburb.

Hottentots Holland High School is an Afrikaans and English medium school situated between Somerset West and Strand, alongside the N2 national road. It has more than 1000 students and 44 teachers. It offers grades 8 through 12 (matric). Tel : 021-8521405.

Boland College is a Further Education and Training Institution. The Strand campus courses includes Secretarial, Human Resources Management, Engineering courses & the National Senior Certificate-qualification.

Sport Facilities 

Strand Central (3kms from Greenways) boasts an Olympic sized, covered, centrally heated swimming pool right on the beach next to the Pavillion which is open all year round. The Charles Morkel sports complex (rugby / tennis / squash & jukskei) is alongside Broadway Boulevard (4kms).
