Gordons Bay Property
Gordons Bay is named after Captain Robert Gordon of the Dutch East India Company. In 1678 Free Burghers were given leasehold land in the Helderberg area. Gordons Bay became a popular picnic site for residents of the surrounding farms and towns and soon little houses began to appear around the bay. By the end of the 19th century a little town had been established. The establishment of a Village Management Board followed in 1902.
